Reading Portrait of a Town: Cape Charles, 1940-1960 was like spending time with a dear friend as she shows you around the town she grew up in. You can imagine her taking you by the arm as the pair of you stroll down the streets. She points out the history of that house or where that store used to be and the neighbors who lived there, how fun it was to go out to the bay or prepare for the cotillion. All very lovely.
With enviable ease, author Patricia Parsons reminisces about her years on the Eastern Shore by the Chesapeake Bay. Though the town she had known has since past, the town itself remains and seems a place worth visiting.
