Even though it was very recently, I cannot recall what brought Foucault’s Pendulum to my attention (such is my memory). I know it wasn’t a recommendation as others, including the last, have been.
To read the back cover the plot seems similar to that of the Da Vinci Code or National Treasure and I’m not interested in conspiracy stories (I’ve not read/seeen either titles, but understand their gist). So what’s the hook? I think it’s partly that I have wanted to read Umberto Eco for some time and this seemed like a good place to start. Also it involves science and kabalah for which I have casual interest in. Ever see the movie Pi? I like that stuff — wrestling with big competing ideas and discovering possible connections between the two.
Have you read the book? Or Eco? Or seen Pi? What do you think?
